About AphaAPHA MembersBecome a Member
With the Federation of Agrochemical Retailer Merchants, APHA established an independent company called BASIS in 1993 to ensure that plant protection and animal health products are stored and used correctly. BASIS operates a store assessment scheme and provides training for store keepers in the correct storage of products. It also offers a ten day training course for people giving advice and/or selling plant protection products.

In the animal health area, BASIS operates a training course for people dealing with all animal health products and specific training for retailers of organophosphate sheep dips. More than 900 people have been trained to date. These courses help to ensure full compliance with the mandatory training requirements contained in the 1996 legislation.

BASIS is directed by a Committee representing Government Departments, Stage Agencies and industry representatives.

For more information on the Courses run by BASIS or to obtain an Application Form, please contact us at basis@apha.ie
